Pilgrim's Credential

The Pilgrim's Credential is the official passport for everyone walking the Camino de Santiago. You use it to collect a stamp at every stage, and it is essential to receive the Compostela. It is recognised by the Cathedral of Santiago and stays with you at every stop.
What the Pilgrim's Credential is for
The credential is much more than a simple document. Along the Camino, it does several things:
- It proves your journey, with the stamps you collect at each stage.
- It gives you access to pilgrim albergues, which ask for it before they welcome you.
- It secures your Compostela, the certificate given in Santiago to those who complete the route.
Without it, there is no record of your journey and no certificate at the end.
Where to stamp your credential
You can get stamps at albergues, churches, cafés and tourist offices along the way. Collect at least one or two stamps a day, so that at the end you have the complete record of your walk.
Take your Pilgrim's Credential with you
Light and practical, the credential fits in any backpack pocket and is easy to carry from the first kilometre to the last. When you reach Santiago, it becomes the physical testimony of your spiritual and cultural journey, and a keepsake of the whole route.
